Sympathetic Residential Development

Sympathetic Residential Infill Development

The brief provided by our clients was to provide architectural, structural and civil engineering services to transfer their proposal into reality. The development will result in the erection of  one 3-storey block, containing 6 x 2-bedroom apartments, 2 x 4-bedroom houses and 1 x 3 bedroom house with associated access, 10 parking spaces, cycle storage and refuse store.

The block will consist of self-contained, high-quality residential apartments and houses, one of which has been designed to be accessible for wheelchair users.

The design of the building takes inspiration from the existing built form of the residential properties within the area. The site itself is set back from the road and will be well screened by both existing and proposed landscaping. The development is set in a desirable residential area of South East London and will provide some much needed, high quality housing units.

The Challenge

FORM were appointed to review proposals for a consented development on a very constrained  site which presented a number of construction challenges.

The challenge therefore was to take the concept that was approved by Croydon Council and provide the necessary expertise to help to ensure a smooth transition into the construction phase.

FORM have also been corresponding with Croydon Council in discharging planning conditions attached to the approved planning permission.

Working with the client, contractor and other specialist consultants, FORM have been assisting in the management of the project.

The Solution

Design solutions were developed and cost effective  construction  drawings prepared to  address concerns within a very tight timescale.

The Result

The scheme is now on site and construction works are progressing well.
