Architecture, Design, Residential, New-Build
To optimise the development potential and address specific site constrains of the surrounding settlement and wooded environment.
The building was designed to reflect the domestic scale of the local buildings with the external envelope of the building moulded to provide a highly sculptured form to respond to the surrounding landscape and confines of the site.
The stepped form of the building creates depth and a play of light and shadow which reduces the apparent mass of the building.
The undulating folded roof form provides a playful contrast to the surrounding flat terrain whilst reflecting the domestic roofs to the adjacent buildings.
The design produced a contemporary building with a traditional aesthetic that provides accommodation comprising one and two bedroom residential apartments.
