Mixed Use Retail and Residential Development

 

We were appointed by a private developer to design a mixed-use building on the site of a pub that was due to be developed.

 

The site was in a premium location in Wimbledon, so needed to fit well with the local area, as well as providing a site for a retail outlet for local residents.

The Challenge

We were appointed to review proposals for a development on the site of an existing pub and address planning concerns.

 

We were also given a brief to prepare a new design that would be acceptable to the planning authorities within a very tight timescale

The Solution

The new proposals provided the developer with a contemporary design approach with a simple aesthetic.

 

We specified the use of materials with a design philosophy that we knew would be favoured and understood by the planners.

The Result

The design approach resulted in successful planning consent and satisfied the tight timescales required by the client.

 

The building now houses a Co-op local store with attractive flats with balconies above.
